it occurred to me, looking at the sky in the water, beautiful this way, that the reason why i am drawn to monochrome images, images diminished of the attention that colour demands from me is that it helps me find the edge of light and absence of light.

it is nature’s lesson on how all phenomenon of experience starts and resolves.

with grace.

never abrupt, nothing unfinished.

so it must be with music – that even the most galactic of symphonic sounds must return to silence.

and so we feel … and hear … and are connected to … every crochet, every quaver, every line, every rest, every breath of every person that surrounds us.

the picture, like last night’s Danzi quintet, reminded me what it means to breathe.
